Child Safety Standards

Last updated: 14 October 2026 · Version 1.0

1. Our standard

Gathora Ltd (RC 9845461) ("Gathora", "we", "us"), the developer of the Gathora app, has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).

These standards apply to everything on Gathora: the Gathora app on Google Play and the App Store, the website at gathora.app, and every profile, listing, community, room, message, comment, photo and video on them. They form part of our Terms of Service, and breaking them ends your account.

2. What is prohibited

A child is anyone under 18. On Gathora you must not do, or try to do, any of the following:

  • create, upload, share, store, request, sell or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including drawn, animated, edited or AI generated images and videos that show a child in a sexual way;
  • sexualise a child in any way, including sexual comments about a child and sexualised images of children, clothed or not;
  • groom a child, which means building contact or trust with a child, or with the people who look after them, in order to abuse or exploit them;
  • use sexual images, threats or money to pressure a child (sextortion);
  • traffic a child, or offer, advertise or arrange any trip, event, accommodation or transport that helps anyone sexually exploit or traffic children, including child sex tourism;
  • arrange to meet a child for a sexual purpose, or help someone else to;
  • share information that helps anyone find, abuse or exploit children, or avoid being caught;
  • promote, praise or excuse the sexual abuse of children.

These rules apply to real and fictional depictions alike, to content made on Gathora or anywhere else, and to public posts, communities, trip rooms and direct messages equally.

3. Gathora is for adults

You must be at least 18 to have a Gathora account, as our Terms of Service require. When we have reason to believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data as our Privacy Policy describes.

4. How to report

You can report from inside the app, without leaving it:

  • a person: open their profile and choose Report;
  • a listing: choose Report from the menu on the listing;
  • a message in a community, a trip room or a direct message: open the message's menu and choose Report;
  • a comment: open the comment's menu and choose Report.

Choose Inappropriate content and, where the form has room for details, say that a child is involved. Reports go to the Gathora team, and the person you report is never told who sent it.

You can also email info@gathora.app with "Child safety" in the subject. Tell us where the content is: a link, a username, or the name of the community or listing. Do not send us copies of the images or videos themselves, because sharing them is a crime even when you mean well.

If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first, on 112 in Nigeria or your local emergency number, and then tell us.

5. What we do about it

Every report reaches the Gathora team, and we treat reports involving a child as our highest priority. When we find, or are told about, content or behaviour that breaks these standards, we:

  • remove the content from Gathora as soon as we are aware of it;
  • permanently suspend the accounts involved, and take down any listing or community used for it;
  • keep the evidence securely, with access limited to the people who must handle it, so that we can give it to the authorities;
  • report it to the authorities as section 6 describes.

People removed under these standards are not allowed back on Gathora. We do not warn an account before we act when a warning could put a child at risk or harm an investigation.

6. Reporting to the authorities

When we become aware of child sexual abuse material, or of a child at risk, on Gathora, we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, and to the authorities in Nigeria, including the Nigeria Police Force and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). Where the child or the offender is in another country, we also report to the authorities there when we can identify them.

We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement in child safety investigations, and we preserve the relevant records when we are asked to.

7. How we keep Gathora safe

  • Every Host who wants to be paid passes an identity check before they receive any money.
  • Profiles, listings, comments and messages can all be reported from the app, and every report reaches the Gathora team.
  • Our staff can remove content and suspend accounts immediately, and every such action is logged against the person who took it.
  • Community moderators can mute, remove and ban members, and deal with reports on messages in their community.
  • Anyone can block another user, which stops that user contacting them.

8. The law we follow

Child sexual abuse and exploitation is a crime. We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including the Child Rights Act 2003, the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 as amended, the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015 and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015, and with the laws of the other countries where Gathora is used.

9. Child safety contact

Gathora has a designated child safety point of contact who is responsible for these standards, for how we respond to reports, and for working with the authorities.

Email: info@gathora.app, with "Child safety" in the subject.

Post: Gathora Ltd (RC 9845461), Block 119, Karfin Madaki Crescent, Kubwa, Abuja.

Law enforcement officers should write from an official email address and include their agency and case reference.

10. Changes to these standards

We update these standards when the law or Gathora changes. The current version and its date are always on this page.
